Learn more about COBIT 5 at ISACA's upcoming conference.

No matter how large or small your enterprise, there is a need for a way to confirm that the enterprises IT function preserves its goals and objectives. This is where COBIT 5 can help.

Developed by the global IT governance group ISACA, COBIT 5 stands apart by being the only business framework for management and governance of enterprise IT. The new online edition of COBIT 5 greatly simplifies the application of its principles, practices, tools and models. This simple edition can help business and IT leaders increase trust and find value in their enterprise's information and technology assets.

With increasing amounts of business transactions and communication taking place online, certain regulations have been put in play to govern data retention, confidential information, financial accountability and recovery from disasters. IT governance and management, like that of COBIT 5, puts a structure around how organizations align IT strategy with business strategy, ensuring that an enterprise stays on track to achieve its goals.

In today's world, new user demands, industry specific regulations and risk scenarios seem to be emerging on a more consistent basis. COBIT 5 promises to help your company maintain high-quality information for the purpose of supporting all business decisions. It can also help your enterprise achieve strategic goals through the use of IT, maintain IT-related risks at an acceptable level, optimize the cost of IT services, and support compliance with laws and regulations.

When an organization has a handle on IT governance, it is able to eliminate questions about how an IT venture is doing overall, and what return that venture is bringing back to the business. Effective IT governance also minimizes the chances of  having a cyber security incident or a data breach within your organization.

Effective managing IT governance and cybersecurity has become one of the most important aspects of modern business, which has pushed the COBIT framework (COBIT 5 is the latest iteration and was introduced in April 2012) to the forefront of business strategy discussions. To introduce business and IT leaders to COBIT 5 and provide imperative instruction on how to use it effectively, ISACA will be holding its inaugural  COBIT conference in March of 2015.

"COBIT 5 has been downloaded more that 145,000 times and the number grows daily, which indicates its global benefit," said Debbie Lew, a director of ISACA and an executive director with Ernst and Young LLP's Risk Transformation in a recent news release. "We developed this new conference to provide professionals with in-depth training on how to use COBIT 5's tools that can benefit their enterprise."

The conference is going to feature two training tracks: The first will be the COBIT 5 foundation track, and the second will be an insights, tools and practical guidance track. The foundation track will simply and clearly explain how IT management issues are affecting organizations, how COBIT meets the requirement for an IT governance framework and how COBIT is used with other standards and best practices. The insights, tools and practical guidance track will include speakers who will teach about how to implement COBIT to create business value.

Registration for the conference is $950 for ISACA members and $1,150 for non-ISACA members. Act fast, because there is a discount of $200 for anyone who registers before 20 January 2015. Attendees can earn up to 14 continuing professional education (CPE) hours as well as receive a large amount of information that is sure to be beneficial to any organization.
