IBM Signs on as Top Sponsor of Government Talent Management Forum

<p><strong>Washington &mdash; Aug. 27</strong><br />The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a professional association and think tank advancing the science of strategic talent management, and IBM announced IBM is a diamond sponsor of HCI&rsquo;s first-ever &ldquo;Talent Management Forum for Government,&rdquo; a leadership event for government human capital and personnel leaders and their teams.<br /><br />IBM is supporting and participating in the HCI event, created exclusively for federal organizations, that will be held in Washington on Sept. 17.<br /><br />&ldquo;IBM is an ideal partner for HCI and the &lsquo;Talent Management Forum for Government,&rsquo; an opportunity for federal talent professionals to learn innovative human capital practices they can apply immediately at their organizations,&rdquo; said Allen Zeman, president of HCI Government Solutions.<br /><br />The forum, to be held at Gaylord National Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Prince George&rsquo;s County, Md., on the Potomac River, will bring together human capital professionals who are transforming talent management in their government organizations for a full day of learning and networking, followed by a high-impact, post-forum networking reception. </p><p>Participants will attend keynote presentations and 90-minute learning sessions that include real-world case studies, practical knowledge and effective strategies.<br /><br />Keynote speakers at the event include Paul Light, NYU professor of Public Policy, and Rep. James Moran of Virginia.<br /><br />IBM will present a special session titled, &ldquo;The Future of Talent Management: Assessing Today to Plan for Tomorrow.&rdquo; Moderated by HCI&rsquo;s Allan Schweyer, executive director and SVP Research, scheduled presenters and panelists include Dr. Joseph Lannon, director of the U.S. Army&rsquo;s Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), which won the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige Award for Quality Excellence; David Forman, HCI chief learning officer; and Dr. Joseph King, ARDEC chief human capital officer.<br /><br />&ldquo;IBM is proud to be a part of this new, federally focused talent event,&rdquo; said Michael Littlejohn, vice president of the Public Sector Human Capital Management Practice of IBM. &ldquo;It will address the innovations and forward-thinking practices that government organizations need to embrace in order to keep pace with growing requirements and future talent needs.&rdquo;<br /><br />HCI&rsquo;s 2008 &ldquo;Talent Management Forum for Government&rdquo; presents an ideal professional development opportunity for chief human capital and personnel officers; directors of HR, manpower, personnel and training, and HR and program managers and analysts.<br /></p>
